Kalei Authentic
An authentic, durable mineral-based paint for elegant façades
Textures
To apply the product, you will need Kalei Authentic powder and the appropriate Stoopen & Meeus powder pigments. Unlike products for stucco and walls, Kalei Authentic does not require a primer, as this reduces the substrate’s necessary absorbency. As for tools, you will need a mechanical mixer (mixing bowl), clean mixing water and a special block brush (Kalei brush).
Kalei Authentic is an eco-friendly, mineral-based façade render (kalei) in powder form, which is mixed on site with water and, if desired, powdered mineral pigments. Its composition is designed entirely to preserve the façade’s breathability and moisture-regulating properties.
The base consists of mineral raw materials and cement-free limestone binders, and has a high pH. Thanks to its high lime content, the product has natural antifungal properties.
To combat staining caused by the growth of moss and algae, or to prevent the façade from turning black due to rain, Kalei Authentic can be optionally protected with KaleiProtect. This is a high-quality, breathable water-repellent treatment, based on silane-siloxane and copolymer, which makes the façade water-repellent without affecting its water vapour permeability.
Always carry out representative tests beforehand.
Kalei Authentic can be applied to both external façades and internal walls. As it is a lime-based, cement-free mineral product, the substrate must be predominantly mineral and absorbent (porous) to ensure good mechanical adhesion.
Ideal substrates: raw, mineral and absorbent materials such as brick (masonry) and quick-set bricks.
Suitable mineral substrates: plain concrete and specific mineral renders.
Non-absorbent or low-absorbent / smooth walls (under certain conditions): smooth walls or those covered with an existing, well-adhered coat of paint are not, in principle, directly suitable. However, it is possible to whitewash them after adding the Kalei additive to the mixture to ensure adhesion.
Please note: applying the ‘kalei’ technique to low-absorbent substrates with the additive always carries an increased risk and should therefore only be carried out in consultation with your technical adviser.
For the best results, the expertise of a professional is essential.
