LimePaint
Handcrafted, traditional walls that breathe. With LimePaint, no two walls are the same: it is the personal touch with which the master craftsman applies the lime that entirely determines the unique final result. His expertise lends an authenticity that lives and breathes with the building.
Colors
As with all mineral and breathable paints, the absorbency of the substrate affects the intensity of the color and, depending on this absorbency, LimePaint will take on different shades. The final appearance of a wall coated with LimePaint is determined by the successive layers. Applying each coat very evenly ensures a consistent result in terms of both color and texture. The intensity and color shades of LimePaint depend heavily on the substrate and finish; for example, the color darkens after vigorous brushing. This is what helps to create the color nuances typical of LimePaint. Polishing, on the other hand, produces a ‘stucco’ finish with a beautiful sheen. This is why this color chart is for guidance only.
Textures
On interior walls, LimePaint can be applied with a brush or trowel to all mineral substrates, as well as to old layers of paint, wood, MDF, metal, etc., provided that the substrate is sufficiently stable and alkali-resistant. The final appearance of a wall coated with LimePaint depends on the successive layers applied. Applying each layer very evenly ensures a consistent result in terms of both color and texture. The final appearance depends on the skill of the applicator. As mineral finishes are applied by hand and depend on the substrate, technique and lighting, we always recommend carrying out a test application beforehand to accurately assess the desired final result. The illustrations provide a representative idea of the possible textures, but are for guidance only.
To apply the product, you will need LimePaint powder (available in 4 kg or 16 kg bags) and specific powdered pigments from Stoopen & Meeus. For a complete system, you will also need StucPrimer and a suitable topcoat (Uniwall 1KPU varnish or Uniwall wax).
Tools:
For a classic lime finish: a block brush (lime brush) or a good-quality trowel.
For a concrete or stucco finish (KalkStucco): a stainless steel trowel or a Venetian stucco trowel.
LimePaint is a traditional, mineral-based and extremely eco-friendly lime paint. Its formulation is entirely designed to provide a breathable, vapour-permeable and natural finish for interiors.
It is made from locally sourced lime.
This product is not intended to form a film; protection and installation of the system are carried out using a suitable primer and in accordance with the application steps set out in the technical data sheet.
Always carry out representative tests beforehand.
As this is a traditional lime paint, it can be applied to virtually any stable, non-warping substrate, provided the surface is properly prepared beforehand with StucPrimer.
LimePaint can be applied to the following stable interior surfaces:
- Mineral substrates: all common mineral or stone-based building materials, such as traditional plaster- or cement-based plasters, concrete, masonry and lime plasters.
- Panels: plasterboard (Gyproc) and stable wood-based panels (such as MDF), provided they are securely fixed and non-flexible.
- Existing paint layers: old layers of paint that are well-adhered and alkali-resistant (these must first be sanded down to a matt finish).
To achieve the best result, craftmanship is essential.
