A refurbished mansion
In the centre of Izegem, a mansion dating from 1872 has been refurbished to house the headquarters of the architectural practice Van Damme-Vandeputte. The building, which originally served as a doctor’s residence before becoming home to a community of nuns, has been carefully restored.
During the renovation, historic features were combined with contemporary elements. The high ceilings, cornices and intricate mouldings help to define the character of the interior. The combination of classical ornamentation and contemporary finishes is evident throughout the various rooms.
Lime paint (Limepaint MP251 Egg 5 per cent) was used to finish the walls in the hallway, a choice that was extended into the living areas with a more textured finish achieved using Crustal (MP251 Egg 2.5 per cent). In the bathrooms, the use of StucDeco in a bespoke shade creates a warm atmosphere.
